So it begins…with my regular commute to work. It is Thursday, after all.
Here’s what I’ll be riding for most, if not all, of the commuting parts of this round of 30 days of biking.
It’s a Cannondale Fifty-Fifty, set up as a single-speed. The frame is a size too small for me, the stem too short, the seatpost without enough setback, and I haven’t gotten around to mounting fenders. The rack is still there only because it acts as a sort of partial fender. And there’s no hard-mounted lighting yet.
I suppose I should swap out the stem and the seatpost and mount the fenders and lights, as this is also my winter bike and come December I’ll be riding little else. I’ll get around to it one of these days.
But it does have a few good points: a well-worn Brooks B-17 saddle, a Carradice Lowsaddle Longflap mounted on an SQR for easy removal, Ergon grips on Surly Open Bars, and fat Schwalbe Big Apples on a pair of Surly/Mavic wheels.
What did you ride today?
