Another Friday off from work, and another planned long ride set aside in favor of working around the homestead and errands followed by reading, cocktails, and perhaps a film on DVD.
Before we left home, I removed the fenders (Cascadia 29ers from Planet Bike) from the Albatross. The plastic brake bridge attachment thing had become deformed during the trip to Minneapolis a few weeks back, and refuses to keep its grasp on the fender. The ensuing rattle is more than I’m willing to put up with.
Besides, the Albatross looks better un-fendered (and anyone who knows me will know that I don’t easily opt for the un-fendered).
But the real cycling accomplishment of the day? On a whim, I suggested that K take a ride on the Albatross. She only went to the end of the block and back, but it was her first fixed-gear ride. I’ll convert her to the dark side yet.
In other news, I wrote a little review of my favorite non-clippy pedals, the VP-001s.
