Cycling the Holidays in 2012

As all (four) of my readers know, I’m a university employee–a civil servant (even if neither one of those words are easily applied to me).

In exchange for low pay and sometimes strange co-workers, I’m compensated with, among other things, quite a few holidays (some of which the more corporate of you don’t get–sorry).

It also occurred to me that I’d very nearly managed to ride on all of my state-mandated holidays in 2011 (Independence Day and Labor Day, for example).

So here’s a project for 2012: go for a substantial ride, alone or in company, on each of the state-mandated holidays. For those of you keeping score, here are the holidays:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King Day (January 16)
  • Memorial Day (May 28)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day (September 3)
  • Thanksgiving (November 22)
  • Christmas Eve (December 24)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
  • New Years Eve (December 31)

Who’s with me?
