Once again, it didn’t look like there was going to be time to squeeze in a coffeeneuring trip this weekend, largely because we were planning on heading north to visit my wife’s family and would be leaving early on Saturday and not returning until Sunday evening.
But then my wife had a brilliant idea: ride for coffee and breakfast before leaving. This, however, required that we find a cafe within a few miles that opens at 7am on Saturday and serves decent food.
After a little research, it turns out that one of our favorite new places, 4 & 20 Bakery and Cafe, does indeed open at 7am. And it’s relatively close to the house.
After packing up the car, we rolled out in the pre-dawn gloaming. After several days of rain, the streets were dry. Fallen leaves were everywhere. We arrived at 4 & 20 just as they were unlocking the door.
There was coffee:
Stats: Latte (excellent), biscuits and gravy (also excellent) with a fried egg (yolk could have been softer), and a side of bacon (very good). A little over 4 miles round trip.
And, we made it on the road by 8:30am.
