The View from Here

Of late, when I stop at the market on the way home from work (sometimes after I’ve taken the long way home), I’ll pull up in a park near the market and sit on my favorite bench.

These past few weeks, I’ve been watching the ice recede. You can see what’s left of it: it’s the darker blue band on the far shore. The lake is still about half-iced.

Sometimes I’ll have a snack, freshly purchased at the market. Or I’ll just sit and look at the water and the sky.

It’s the view from here.
